The four work-live apartments in Jynkkä, Kuopio, were completed for the 1980 Housing Fair. The Studio Foundation purchased all four apartments from the City of Kuopio in 1995.
Each work-live apartment is 119 m² in size. At the moment, two out of the four apartments are in use by visual artists.
The City of Kuopio supported the maintenance of the Kuopio Artist Apartments in 1995–2005.
The Studio Foundation has decided to sell the Kuopio Artist Apartments. The first apartment was put on sale in spring 2026. The sales decision was based on the Studio Foundation’s strategy, which was approved by the Foundation’s Board of Directors in spring 2025, and which defines the priorities for safeguarding and developing the Foundation’s operations.
