Ars Longa Artists’ Apartments

Ars Longa Artists’ Apartments in Kalasatama, Helsinki, was completed in January 2020. It was commissioned by and is owned by Property Company Ars Longa, whose shareholders are the Finnish Artists’ Studio Foundation, the Ornamo Senior House Association, the Union of Finnish Writers and the Visual Arts’ Copyright Society Kuvasto.

The building contains 54 one-room, two-room and three-room apartments. In addition, there are two work-live apartments on the top eighth floor.

Visual artists, authors, designers and applied artists aged 55 or over can apply for the Ars Longa apartments. A total of 33 visual artists live at Ars Longa.

Ars Longa collaborates with the student and youth housing on the neighbouring plots. The goal is for different generations to meet, and the residents of the three plots have plenty of shared spaces: shared laundry, sauna, fitness and lounge facilities. The roof floor terraces are also shared.

Galleria Longa and window gallery Fönari, which present group and private exhibitions from the residents of Ars Longa, operate in the corner of the building. The gallery is administered by the board of the resident association of the building. Read more about Longa and Fönari
