Art House Turku

The Studio Foundation has rented facilities in the Turku Art House to visual artists since 2022. The Art House was opened in the former Rettig tobacco factory located in the Old Town of Turku. The Art House is owned by the City of Turku.

The facilities rented by the Studio Foundation are located in the main building of the Art House, and 45 visual artists work there. In addition, the premises rented by the Studio Foundation are home to the Graphics Workshop of the Turku Printmakers Association, and there are also warehouses for visual artists.

The main building was designed by architect Albert Richardtson and constructed in 1928–1929. The Art House has spread to six buildings in the historic Rettig factory area, which was completed gradually from the 1800s to the 1920s.

The Art House hosts artists working in visual arts, performing arts, literature, literary arts and comics as well as other creative professionals. There are also various exhibitions, performances, events and workshops. Read more on the Art House website

Property Company Turun Nunnankatu 4 owns and manages the property’s plot and the buildings on the plot. It is a mutual property company owned by the City of Turku.  The Art House is operated by Turun Taiteen talo Oy, which was established in 2022.
